KILO - 4 - 13 2012 REUNION NEWSLETTER
November 20, 2011
Greetings Kilo - 4 – 13 Marines, Families, and Friends,
In spring, 2012 we will gather in Wilmington, NC,
Wednesday, May 2 through Saturday, May 5 for our reunion. I know everyone is
looking forward to it.
We will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn,
Mayfaire, 6745 Rock Springs Road, Wilmington, NC 28405. We have blocked out
a group rate for 30 rooms for our group.
You can make your room reservations by going to the
following link, cut and paste into your browser:
http://www.hiltongardeninn.hilton.com/en/gi/groups/personalized/I/ILMTCGI-TASE-20120501/index.jhtml?WT.mc_id=POG.
Or if you would prefer, you can call
910-202-5993 to make your room reservations. The group code is: TASE. Group Room
Rates are: $139.00 per night plus tax for either king or two doubles, and
$159.00 per night plus tax for a suite. Should we book all 30 rooms, the hotel
will honor our group rate on a space available basis, so make your room
reservations early. You can fly into Wilmington, or you can fly into Raleigh and
drive down I-40 about 2 hours to Wilmington.
As noted, we will arrive on Wednesday May 2nd.
That evening we will have a reception with food (lots of food), however, it will
be a no-host cash bar. Thursday, May 3rd we will spend at Camp
Lejeune where we will visit the 10th Marines in the morning. The 10th
Marines have a Legacy Artillery Park, which has one of each artillery piece the
Marine Corps has used. We are planning a group photo in front of an M-109, so
please wear your Kilo polo shirts and hats. If you need Kilo polo shirts,
contact Allan Cruz, for hats contact Dennis Wild. Their contact information is
in the Quarterly Roster. We will have lunch at the 10th Marines
Dining Facility, and in the afternoon visit the War Memorial. I have requested
one-day PX privileges for the group.
On Friday morning, May 4th, we will visit Marine
Corps Air Station, New River, where we will visit MAG-26, VMMT-204 and get up
close with the MV-22 Osprey. We will have lunch at the MAG-26 Dining Facility.
(A chance to see if the Air Wing really does live better than the Mud Marines.)
In the afternoon, we will visit the
USS North Carolina in Wilmington. For those of you who have never been
aboard a battleship, you should thoroughly enjoy this visit. Most of the ship is
open to visitors, and the Number 3, 16 inch turret is open to visit from the
lower handing rooms to the gun bays in the turret. For more info, the link is:
http://www.battleshipnc.com/AbouttheShip/History.aspx.
Saturday morning, May 5th we will have our
Business Meeting. The agenda is part of this package. If you wish to make
changes or add topics, please notify Allan Cruz and me. In the evening, we will
have our Banquet and Raffle. The Banquet will be held at an Italian Restaurant,
The Osteria Cicchetti located across the street from the hotel. Please remember,
the Banquet is coat and tie. Saturday afternoon will be free time. Mayfaire is
located close to shopping, beaches, and sightseeing, so there should be
something for everyone.
Sunday, May 6th, we will depart.
Now for what it is going to cost per person,
and what you get for your money. This year the Registration Fee is $175.00 per
person. (A Registration Form is part of this package.)
Please make your checks payable to: Kilo Btry 4 13 Reunion
Association.
Here is what the Registration Fee covers:
The meeting room and food for both the reception
and the Business Meeting;
·
Bus Transportation;
·
Lunches on Thursday and Friday;
·
The Banquet (the meal is covered, but there will
be a no-host cash bar);
·
The visit to the
USS North Carolina;
·
Souvenir Coffee Mug;
·
Souvenir Badge and Badge Lanyard.
Some general information.
The bus will be leaving the hotel each morning at 0730, so
it is important that you be ready to go at that time. For Security and
Administrative reasons, we will have to present rosters of who is on the bus at
both facilities, consequently,
everyone must be on our bus. No
POV access to either Camp Lejeune or MCAS New River will be allowed for the
group.
If you should decide to stay at a hotel other than the
Hilton Garden Inn, please make sure that you can make the bus departure time.
Please send your completed Registration Form with your
check or money order to:
Allan Cruz
Secretary/Treasurer
210 Castle Hill Ranch Road
Walnut Creek, CA 94595
Allan’s home phone and e-mail are shown on the Quarterly
Roster.
We should have as great a time as we have had at the
previous reunions, so get your Registration Forms in, and make your room and
travel arrangements.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Semper Fi,
Tom
